ACT (7:30-8:15 a.m.) & FOCUS (2:10-2:45 p.m.)
ACT & FOCUS what is it?
During students ACT period, I will be working with students on teaching how to "act" (social and emotional development) as well as preparing students for the ACT college entrance test. We will be using the Character Strong curriculum to support social emotional development. Students and teachers will have weekly dares to complete to go along with the Character Strong lessons. I will be having check-ins and check-outs with students as much as possible. Students will also be completing daily formative loop assessments. These assessments consist of students completing a 5 minute individualized pencil-paper Mathematical practice. We will also be completing and discussing ACT test based questions.
During students FOCUS period, teachers will be focusing on students academic needs. Teachers will be available to provide students with additional help with academic struggles. Students will also be able to make-up work, work on assignments, and/or redo assignments. It is the responsibility of each student to make sure they are taking advantage of this FOCUS time.
